Provisions & Picnics
Salt Spring is made for picnics. Pick up fresh local provisions from the Saturday Market, farm stands, or one of the island’s specialty food shops—think handmade cheeses, fresh bread, seasonal fruit, and small-batch treats. Ganges has great spots to stock up, including bakeries, delis, and grocery stores. Pack a basket and head to a beach, forest trail, or scenic lookout. With good food and a beautiful setting, you’ve got the perfect Salt Spring moment.
BIKING ON SALT SPRING
Exploring Salt Spring by bike is a rewarding and scenic experience—think ocean vistas, shady forest roads, and charming roadside farm stands. But be prepared: the roads are narrow, winding, and often shared with vehicles, so extra caution is a must. Ride single file, use lights even during the day, and wear a helmet at all times. E-bikes are a great way to handle the island’s hills, and local rentals are available. With a little care and good preparation, biking Salt Spring can be one of the highlights of your visit.
